STUBS Held the 2020 Freshmen Orientation Meeting

On October 11, 2020 at 3:00 p.m., the 2020 Undergraduate Orientation Meeting of STUBS was held in the Lecture Hall of Transitional Campus. Prof. Zhibo Zou, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of Business, Prof. Yue'e Long, Vice Dean for Teaching affairs, Prof. Muqiang Zheng, the Department Director of Applied Economics, Prof. Junjie Zhou, the Department Director of Management, Prof. Riguang Wen, the Department Director of Accounting and Finance, staff from the Teaching Affairs Office and all undergraduate students of the Class of 2020 attended the conference together. The conference also invited Huang Yangche, a prosecutor of Shantou Chenghai District People's Procuratorate, to give a safety education lecture to the freshmen.
 

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Zhibo Zou firstly expressed a warm welcome to the freshmen of 2020 on behalf of all School faculty and staff. He encouraged the students to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude and cultivate good habits of independent study. He wished the students could become a new self in the university and meet the new challenges in life.
 

After that, Prof. Yue'e Long introduced the general situation, faculty and talent training characteristics of the School to the new students, and sent great expectations to them: Firstly, she hoped that the students would continue to improve their comprehensive competitiveness in the next four years; secondly, she hoped that the students would set up correct life goals; thirdly, she hoped that the students would be a self-respect, self-improvement and self-discipline. Finally, She stressed again that study is the first priority of students and encouraged students to "make excellence a habit".
 
Then, in order to enhance the understanding of the new students to the departments of the School, three department directors introduced the development history, faculty, professional training characteristics and career development of each department respectively. At the same time, they encouraged the students to seize the opportunities and continuously improve their overall competitiveness.
 
In the safety education session, Prosecutor Huang Yangche combined true cases to popularize the safety education knowledge to the freshmen on campus personal safety, traffic safety, prevention of telecommunication fraud, rejection of "campus loan" and elimination of examination cheating, and reminded the students to abide by the safety regulations, continuously improve their own cultivation and strive to be an honest and trustworthy youth.
 

The orientation meeting has strengthened the freshmen’s understanding and sense of belonging to the School and helped them clarify their learning goals.
