On October 21, the Shantou University "One Foundation - Chaoshan Mothers Charity Fund" Scholarship Donation Ceremony and Appointment of School of Business Industry Mentor was held in the conference room of the School of Business. Mr. Chen Yinglin, Director of Exterior Communication Department of Shantou University, Mr. Zou Zhibo, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of Business, Ms. Long Yue'e, Vice Dean of the School of Business, Mr. Lin Xunan, Vice Chairman of Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Vice President Long Yue’e.
At the donation ceremony, One Foundation donated RMB 50,000 to establish the scholarship project "One Foundation - Chaoshan Mothers Charity Fund" to reward 10 outstanding undergraduates of the School of Business with RMB 5,000 each. The establishment of this scholarship enriches the scholarship programs of Shantou University and enables future cooperation between Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce and Shantou University.
On behalf of the Shantou University, Director Chen Yinglin thanked the One Foundation for their kindness, and also thanked the Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce for their help in teaching and student employment. In 2018, Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce donated RMB 500,000 to support Shantou University; in May 2020, the Chamber and its 50 member enterprises hold a special online job fair at Shantou University, providing more than 500 job positions, which not only promoted the employment of Shantou University graduates, but also help enterprises to recruit high-quality talents. It also accumulates valuable practical experience for further cooperation between the university and enterprises.
At the appointment ceremony, Vice Chairman Lin Xunan was appointed as an industry mentor of the School of Business. Secretary Zou Zhibo, when introducing the industry mentor, emphasized that business is a practical discipline and Shantou University attaches great importance to the development of students' theoretical learning and practical skills. The appointment of industry experts as mentors will give students more opportunities to learn about the industry in advance, adjust their career plans in time, and excel in their studies under the mentor's careful guidance.
Finally, Lin Xunan shared his academic lecture on the topic of "Doing Business and Kindness", guiding students to have a deeper understanding of the connotation of business and charity activities, and leading students to understand the important role of enterprises in social ethics and social responsibility from the perspective of the industry. He actively interacted with the participants and enthusiastically discussed relevant issues with them, giving them inspiration and thoughts.
