Shantou University Business School held a 2023-grade undergraduate freshman orientation in the first week of the school term on the East Coast Campus. Party (CPC) Secretary of School of Business Zou Zhibo, Dean Liang Qiang, Vice Dean Long Yue'e, Vice Dean Guo Gongxing, Head of Applied Economics Department Zheng Muqiang, Head of Accounting and Finance Department Wen Guanglei, faculty representatives, academic administration, counselors, and all 2023-grade freshmen attended the orientation. The orientation was divided into three sessions, each hosted by the head of each department.
Before the start of the orientation, each department held an academic advising meeting. The freshmen had face-to-face friendly exchanges with their academic advisors.
At 8:00 PM, the orientation kicked off with the national anthem. Dean Liang Qiang, Secretary Zou Zhibo, and Vice Dean Long Yue'e attended the orientation for the Business Management Department, Applied Economics Department and Accounting and Finance Department respectively, and gave welcoming speeches. The School leadership first extended a warm welcome to all 2023-grade undergraduate students and then introduced the School in terms of its history, comprehensive strength, teaching staff advantages, discipline development, and talent training achievements. They also expressed their expectations for the new students.
In the program introduction session, Vice Dean Guo Gongxing of Business Management Department, Head of the Applied Economics Department Zheng Muqiang, and Head of the Accounting and Finance Department Wen Guanglei introduced their departments and programs around the training objectives, talent cultivation concepts and characteristics etc. They encouraged students to maintain a good attitude in future studies and life, actively explore in the new journey.
Then, outstanding student representatives You Jicong, Huang Yimin and Lin Peijie shared their experiences in university life.
Finally, freshman representatives Tan Shiyi, Huang Wancai and Guo Yinglin also expressed their expectations for university life.
The 2023-grade undergraduate orientation at Shantou University School of Business brought a unique "first lesson" to the new students, deepened their understanding of the School and programs, and ignited their expectations for the new study life.
