Lecture for Face to Face with Elite Alumni

        To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the university, in order to further explore the model of collaborative education between colleges, and fully play the role of alumni, and help students clarify their career development plans as early as possible, on the afternoon of March 3, 2021, as sponsored by the Veritas College and the School of Business, the activity of "Face to Face with Elite Alumni" was successfully launched in E203. Frank Zheng, a STUBS Alumni, was invited to share his road to success and life insights with the students.

        After graduation from the Law and Business School of Shantou University in 1996, Frank Zheng commenced his legal practice at a local law firm in Guangzhou. In 2004, he joined the renowned international law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel (Gide). He was made a partner at Gide in March 2011, and managed its Beijing office as co-head. Frank Zheng joined JunHe LLP, a Chinese leading law firm, in 2014. During his 21 years' practice, Frank Zheng provided legal services to many leading multinational companies for their business and investment projects in China. The Chambers Asia Pacific journal recommended Frank Zheng as a leading lawyer in dispute resolution (2013, 2014 and 2015 editions), and Asia Pacific Legal 500 also recognized him as a leading lawyer in the areas of real estate and dispute resolution (2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 editions) and the area of corporate and M&A (2019 edition).
 
        At the beginning of the lecture, Frank Zheng informed the students the importance of opportunity with the story of "A cat's comeback". It is hard to find an internship, and a good one is even more valuable. Frank Zheng told the students that they should be good at taking the initiative to grasp their job opportunities, which may not only be a job opportunity, but also a vital opportunity in our life.
 
        Afterwards, Frank Zheng talked with the students about his career success, from preparing for the judicial exam during college, to going to one of the best law firms in France to exchange and study, to being a partner of JunHe LLP today, so that the students could understand how he got his current success step by step through his study and hard work.
 
        From Frank Zheng’s sharing, we can easily see that continuous study is essential to one person’s future career development, and efforts are equally indispensable. At the same time, Frank Zheng stressed that in the process of job hunting, physical health is something we should not easily ignore. Only our health is guaranteed, we can do our best to get the offer we want.
 
        In the end, Frank Zheng encouraged the students to go forward and strive for success and answered all the questions from the students at the event. The event "Face to Face with Elite Alumni" lasted for more than four hours, and the students gained a lot from it. Through this face-to-face communication, we hope students can further clarify their career planning and continue to work hard towards their future goals!
