Prof. Zongling XU was elected as the new chairman of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Economic Research Association of Shantou

    In the afternoon of October 26, 2018, the Fifth General Meeting of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Economic Research Association of Shantou was held at Hall A on the 3rd floor of Longhu Hotel. Prof. Zongling XU was elected as the new chairman of the association.



 
    Prof. Zongling XU made an important speech at the meeting and put forward the guiding ideology of the Research Association, namely, “Three Kinds of Persistence”. First, to persist in keeping in line with the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, guided by the important thoughts of Xi Jinping on the Party Work in the new era, carrying out the guiding principles of the Central Committee's work on Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao areas The second is to persist in attaching importance to talents and strive to build the Research Association into a new type of academic team with distinctive, high-level and influential characteristics. The third is to persist in academics and strive to improve the research quality.


 

    Prof. Shaodong HU and Prof. Qiong CAO were elected as Vice-Chairmans of the Research Association, and Prof. Jinming LI, Prof. Jianqi ZHU and Prof. Songtao WANG were elected as council members of the Research Association.



    The Sixth General Meeting of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Economic Research Association of Shantou will have a new organizational structure. In the future, under the leadership of the chairman, the Association will continue to adhere to the correct political direction, implement the central policy of "Peaceful Reunification and One Country, Two Systems", to strengthen exchange and cooperation between Shantou and the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao areas in economic and cultural fields, and to make greater contributions to both the economic and social development of Shantou and the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
